After 14 months and a nearly $100 Million renovation the Petersen opens today with a complete and amazing transformation. Nearly a million square feet of automotive goodness are spread among 3 floors and you have to check every inch of it.
The ribbons of stainless steel and red panels behind make a bold statement and are a total transformation from where the building started.
I was able to get a sneak preview of what the public would be able to see with many other members of the media. The morning started off with speeches from Terry Karges the Executive Director of the Petersen and Peter Mullin the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Petersen and concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
With 3 floors of automotive goodness to explore you can travel by elevator or this all new cool spiral staircase that connects the 3 floors.
We caught Dave Kunz of Channel 7 and friend of the blog working away and climbing the spiral staircase.
The Pixar Cars Mechanical Institute may be for kids, but I saw plenty of full size kids, OK adults playing with all the fun educational displays.
There is an Art Center Classroom on the premises for students to learn and people to see what the automotive future holds.
Just a few more pics of what the Petersen has to offer.
Don’t change lanes there are more fantastic pics from the Petersen coming.
